10 PM. Clear with broken cloud. There was a southerly wind.

The witness was a civilian communications operator at Gwent Police HQ, and was located about 3 miles from Mynydd-Maen Mountain, which lies to the west of Cwmbran and has high-voltage cables running across it north-south.

The witness saw at an angle of 80 degrees elevation, a star-like light, but brighter and larger than a star, travelling over the mountain in an easterly direction towards Cwmbran.

The object then stopped over the town and changed direction to the south towards Newport.

The sighting was also witnessed by another civilian working at the Police HQ. Duration of sighting: approximately 2 minutes.
