Mr and Mrs G. D. Withey of Blackwood saw an object from their kitchen window.

Mr Withey stated: "Our house is situated in a high position overlooking the town of Blackwood and surrounding area, with out kitchen facing east. the sky was clear, with no clouds and the object was sighted before the sun had risen over the horizon.

The object was cigar-shaped and orange in colour and appeared to be moving slowly in a north-easterly direction over Mynyddislwyn mountain to the east of our house. It stayed in view for approximately five minutes before disappearing over the horizon, and during that time, something on the edge was shining or reflecting the sun."
